    Frequently Asked Questions

Criminal Defense Lawyer Serving Corona, Chino, Chino Hills, Norco, Riverside, Corona, Eastvale and South Corona

Is it necessary that I have an attorney in my criminal case?

It is not necessary that you have legal representation in your criminal case, but it is highly recommended.  Cho, Sheasby, Chung & Ignacio, LLP, familiar with trying criminal cases, will be able to defend you against your charges in a manner that may significantly increase your chances of a result that is beneficial to you.

When is the best time to hire an attorney?

A Corona criminal defense lawyer should be contacted when:

    • You are under investigation for a criminal offense, be it a misdemeanor or a felony
    • You have been taken into custody by law enforcement, and are likely to be charged with committing a crime
    • You have been charged for the commission of a crime

I am guilty of committing a crime and I have no defense.  My intention is to plead guilty.  Should I still hire an attorney?

Even if you are guilty of committing a crime, it is recommended that you retain the services of an attorney.  It is an unfortunate fact that many judges will be upset or angry if you come to face your criminal charges without legal representation.  In addition, being guilty and having no defense does not mean that an attorney cannot be effective in your case.  They may be able to present mitigating factors to the prosecution or judge, which can result in less severe sentencing, or even a plea agreement.  This can possibly see you avoiding jail time, and being placed under house arrest or probation instead.

What do I do if I am convicted?

There are several legal options at your disposal in the event that you are convicted of a crime.  You can withdraw your original guilty plea and request a new trial.  You can request an appeal, if you feel your trial was had serious errors that affected the outcome.  You can request an expungement of your conviction from your criminal record, or you can request a modification of your sentence in order to avoid jail or prison time.

Contact a Corona criminal defense attorney right away if you have been charged with committing a criminal offense.  An attorney will be able to provide you with information regarding what to expect in your legal proceedings, and may be able to secure a successful case resolution by representing you in court.
